Most manufacturers recommend an air conditioning service every two years. The process involves extracting what gas is left in the system, creating a vacuum in the system to detect leaks, filling the system with fresh gas, oil and a tracer dye to detect any future leaks

Over time bacteria and bad odours can build up in the ventilation system. This can easily be treated with an antibacterial treatment. £9.89 as part of an air conditioning service or £39.89 on its own 

A pollen filter filters the air that comes into the vehicles cabin. This traps the dust, pollen and anything that tries to enter the ventilation system. Most manufacturers recommend replacement every two years

The condenser is located at the front of the vehicle, usually in front of the radiator. The condensers job is to cool the refrigerant. Although it's located in the most efficient place it's also the most vulnerable place. Most air conditioning failures are due to a damaged condenser
